The solar soft board meeting the Himalayas.

I am a commercial advertisement and event photographer going around the world for taking photos of various purposes in different countries, such as concert with millions people in huge dome, exciting rally, beautiful fashion show, interesting commercial advertisement, action still, oversea romantic wedding, etc. Because my passion toward photography and outdoor activities, many inspiring and affecting stories are discovered by having knowledge of cultures from different countries besides working. Sherpa is one of the races that I respect most among people I encountered in many photography trips. The wisdom, for Sherpa, to live harmonically with the nature was acquired 400 years ago at about an altitude of 4000 meters by living in one of the toughest environments on the earth. The area they live is called Khumbu; only 1% of the land of which is suitable for cultivating with 22% among that has to share with animals for growing grass. In addition, with its glacial landform, the less than 1% of the infertile soil has only the depth of 70-80 centimeters. The soil Sherpa have right now for cultivating is from the 200-year development. They live in the roof of the world by the circle of nomadic herding and agriculture.

For being a photographer in Himalayas, the challenge is not only to my physical condition in the nature, but to equipments from the sever environment.

In the digital camera era, the power of camera is essential and necessary.

On the camping route at Mount Everest ground, all power sources of villages located at high altitude totally rely on hydroelectricity and solar power.

After traveling more than 1000 kilometers on foot, the mobile solar panel was replied on for everyday power generation while camping out of the village to have the excellent camera angles.


This soft solar panel is the best choice for outdoor use that I found from the two-month trip. The properties of the soft panel are waterproof, corrosion resistance and easy to hang on the mountain climbing backpack.

Especially it can accept solar energy to generate power even in the shadow, which is the performance that the conventional hard solar panel cannot reach.


The solar panel backpack was used for charging my GPS watch, cellphone and power bank; it was even connected to the time-lapse camera for providing unlimited energy whole day.

The biggest challenge to the solar panel was on the condition of sub-zero 10-25 degree at night and 13 degree during the day at the altitude of 5400 meters over seven whole days of camping in Mount Everest.


Even Ice Fall Doctors, Sherpa, was impressed by the properties of the soft solar panel, such as lightweight and durable, soft cover and continuous power supply in multiple environments.

It’s my third time, in the end of April of 2017, climbing the camping route in Mount Everest, in Nepal, to record the story of warrior- Sherpa. During the trip, the soft solar panel was absolutely one of the most important equipments to me!
